At the end of 2016, the ICT market should pull off the second consecutive annual increase. The figures released recently by Assinform (the group that brings IT companies together), and processed in collaboration with Netconsulting, sketch out the outlines of a sector that is starting to leave some very hard years behind.
At the end of 2016, the Assinform-Netconsulting study raises the bar of the market to €65.9 billion: a growth of 1.5% compared to 2015 (a year which, in turn, closed with an increase in sales of 1%). Therefore, two consecutive years of growth, obtained after 2013 in which €3 billion were lost compared to the year before (-4.4%) and a 2014 with a 1.4% decline.
Suffice it to say that in 2012, ICT sales in Italy exceeded €68 billion.
“The Italian digital market has changed direction, renewing itself,” says Agostino Santoni, Assinform president.
Where is credit due? Look at voice data centers and cloud computing (+28.7% to €1.2 billion) and the Internet of Things (+13.9% to €1.8 billion): innovative sectors which offset the slightly downward trend of more traditional sectors.
All of the sectors contributed to the 2015 recovery, with the exception of the telecommunications network services (-2.4% to €22.6 billion) which continued to suffer from the decline in prices.
The same trend is also predicted for 2016: -1.5% to €22.3 billion for telecommunications network services compared to the growth of ICT services (+2.3% to €10.6 billion), ICT software and solutions (+4.3% to €6.2 billion), devices and systems (+0.8% to €17.1 billion), digital content and digital advertising (+7.5% to €9.6 billion).
An annotation should be made on ICT services, the +1.5% recorded in 2015 puts an end to a negative trend that has lasted years.
