Assinform Report on ICT: 42
years of technological innovation in Italy
The first Assinform Report dates back to the 1960s
when information technology first started to develop
in Italy. It has since followed the evolution of the
Italian IT industry from its beginnings to the affirmation
of mainframes. And has continued to do so accompanying
the boom of the Personal Computer in the 80s and the
market’s acceleration of the following decade, and
so forth up to this day, which is characterised by
the convergence among Information Technology and Telecommunications
and new frontiers of applications on the Web.
To follow the development of the ICT market in Italy
through the Assinform Report allows to retrace the
stages of a tumultuous and exciting evolution and
to gain insight into its highlights.
The report analyses the worldwide
and Italian ICT scenarios and provides detailed tables
and commentary on data relating to the main product
segments and markets. Every year, the Assinform report
identifies and discusses the latest industry issues.
The report is part of a broader range of monitoring
activities that enable the Association to offer business
and the press quarterly updates with the latest ICT
market figures.
