Set up in 1981, Promotor International now belongs to the French group GL events, a worldwide leader in tradeshow, convention and conference organization, in managing exhibition areas and tradefair centers and supplying services for any type of event. Listed on Paris stock exchange, the group relies on the expertise of 3,000 employees working from 80 offices based in 13 different countries (including 20 outside France).

With the acquisition of Smau - the international Information & Communications Technology exhibition taking place in Milan every year - in 2005, Promotor International officially entered the ICT industry with the goal of creating a strong reference point for the new technology market.

This strategy was confirmed in 2007 by the creation of Promotor I.C.T., a company specialized in the organization of ICT events, the most important of which is Smau. Since 2006 this historical exhibition has been exclusively reserved for trade visitors to meet the needs of a market in search of concrete business opportunities through exhibitions.

Smau 2008, which will be held in Milan from October 15 to 18, will be a reference point for the B2B market of new technology and innovation, offering real opportunities for reaching a selected and motivated audience made up of entrepreneurs, managers, self-employed professionals, distributors, resellers, public administration officials, technicians, IT specialists and communication professionals.

In 2008 Promotor I.C.T. launched a series of local events aimed at bringing together the main ICT vendors with companies from the surrounding areas to complement the traditional exhibition in Milan.
